My Boy Best Friend : Prologue (Part 2)

I got home by twilight. I can't believe it took the lady one whole day to fix my freakin' phone. Lucky for them I got to go window shop while I was waiting, or else I would've flipped!
I jumped out of my bike and ran towards the door, but something stopped me from my tracks.
My jaw dropped. Kolt was sitting there on our front porch. His head was on his hands and he looked very upset. I walked near him, "Kolt?" I called.
His head snapped up and he ran into my arms. I was too shocked to even move. He pulled away, "Abi, are you okay?" he asked, touching me everywhere on the face, as if he was looking for bruises.
"I'm fine. Wha-?"
He spoke again before I could've asked what he was doing, "Abi! Why haven't you been answering my calls?! I was worried sick! And when I came to find you this morning, I saw your front door left open, I thought you've been kidnapped!"
I raised an eyebrow, "Kidnapped?!"

My Boy Best Friend : Prologue (Part 1)

"He's leaving."
My heart broke, "What do you mean?"
She shrugged both shoulders, "I mean, he's not staying."
I blinked twice before comprehending the words that have literally cracked my heart open.
My friend was leaving. My secret friend. Maybe it's a good thing, after all, he does seem pretty ashamed of me. I mean, who does that? He befriends me through texts and tells me I'm the best, and yet, he never even tried laying an eye upon me.
"That's good," I lied and faked a smile, "He's an ass anyway." I sighed.
Ashley poked me, "Are you sure? Aren't you two friends and all?" her eyebrows furrowed.
I shook my head, "We text, yeah, but Ash, he's a freakin' douche. You know I'm a man-hater. I would never–"
"Yeah, yeah." She interjected. "I just assumed that you liked him. You know, you seemed very fond of him when you first told me about him."
I looked down. Do I like him? Hell yeah, I do! But after I watched him flirt and text with other girls, including Ash, I completely tuned him out of my life. But at some point, I keep letting him back in.
"Yeah well, I thought he was a better guy then. Now, I know who he really is." I smiled.
She nodded, "Abi, if you ever need anyone to talk to, I'm here for you. You're my best friend, don't even try keeping secrets from me!" she chuckled.
I laughed, but deep inside, I felt broken. I was lying to her just then, because apparently, I can't tell a soul about my friendship with 'him'. He never admitted that he was ashamed of me, but when he asked me to keep us a secret, I think it was pretty clear.
Kolt was an ass. And as much as I hate to admit, he was still my friend. My friend whom I was in love with.
